Teak is widely used in various decoration and industries due to its powerful properties. Today we'll introduce you to the properties of Burmese natural teak and its corresponding uses!
Decay resistance: For centuries, Burmese teak decks, which have been favored by seafarers, are little known. Teak is considered a good material for decks because it is the only wood that can withstand seawater corrosion and sunlight without cracking, breaking or bending. The familiar Titanic's deck was made of teak, and when the research team recovered the artifacts more than a century later, the deck was still intact and had not been corroded by seawater.
Slip resistance: Due to the high sand content of teak, teak contains a high amount of silica, which provides slip resistance for people walking on wet teak decks. Compared to teak, people are more likely to slip when stepping on wet oak or pine boards. Due to the high cost of making decks out of Burmese natural teak, many yacht builders looking for cost effective alternatives such as oak, ash, maple, cherry, etc. have tried to use other woods, but the results are far less than Burmese natural teak. To date, Burmese natural teak is still the mainstream material for decking, not only is it non-slip and reliable, but its beautiful golden luster and clear texture give it a unique aesthetic.
Durability: On land, teak is used for a variety of purposes, including doors, window frames, furniture, and indoor and outdoor wood flooring. Teak flooring and doors, in particular, are not only durable and long-lasting, but also enhance the aesthetics of a room. In addition, teak has many applications in the chemical industry because of its durability and resistance to various corrosive chemicals.
Durability: Teak is a very stable wood and has good durability in all climatic conditions. Severe winter storms, monsoon rains and tropical heat do not weaken the strength of teak. As a result, teak flooring can be installed in both wet and dry climates. Teak is used extensively in the oil fields of the Middle East. Teak can withstand the harsh environment of dry hot deserts and does not produce electrical sparks, greatly reducing the possibility of serious explosions.
In summary: teak is resistant to decay, non-slip, durable and long-lasting, and therefore has a wide range of applications. And planted teak and Burma natural teak is still a large gap, if you want to make teak flooring, especially the boat deck, Burma natural teak is undoubtedly a better choice.
