Teak, both natural Burmese teak and plantation teak (baby teak), is in short supply in all applications as a popular and superior wood on the market today. Whether it is used as teak flooring or furniture, it is very impressive. But the quality of teak itself will greatly affect the quality of wood products.
1, whether natural
Today's teak has two kinds of natural teak and planted teak. Natural teak mainly from Burma, due to longer growth years, the natural environment is more suitable, so more oily, higher density, size is also larger. And planted teak due to the current planting technology and management deficiencies, coupled with the relatively short growth years, so slightly inferior to natural teak.
2、 Region of origin
Teak is suitable for growing in high temperature, and the soil is moist environment, and this is the reason why teak is rich in silica. Currently recognized as the best teak in Myanmar and Thailand, however, Thailand has long banned the export of teak, so natural Myanmar teak belongs to the best teak.
3、 Year of growth
The year of growth will largely affect the quality of teak. Natural teak often takes 50 years to mature, and the longer the age of the tree, the more obvious the ink line, oiliness, hardness, stability and toughness. Therefore, the longer the age of teak wood more fragrant, more resistant to decay and moth, not easy to deformation.
4、 The taking part
The part of the tree that can be taken is divided into trunk, roots and branches. Teak has sapwood and heartwood, due to the long growth period, absorbing more nutrients, heartwood is often more stable and denser. It can easily cope with the changes of temperature and humidity in different seasons after being made into flooring, and is not easy to warp and deformation, while being more waterproof.
5、Processing process
Teak wood from the logs into the wood products that can be used by consumers on a daily basis, often need to go through multiple processes. In the processing of teak, it is especially important to protect the oil of teak itself. In addition to the manual processing process, teak needs to be outdoors after 30 days of natural light drying, so that the oil of teak fully oxidized, so that the wood presents an elegant golden color, and this is the reason why teak is enduring, the brighter the color is used.
